Creative Parenting Program Launched

Malaysia launches program to help make “creative parenting”.The Malaysian government Monday launched a program to help career parents strike a balance between career and family and make “creative parenting” in the country.

The program was launched by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil at Putrajaya, administrative center of the Malaysian federal government, local media reports said.Under the program organized by Malaysia’s National Family and Population Development Board, career parents will be urged to attend day-long workshops on areas like creative parenting and stress management.

The program has worked out more than 160 projects involving 11, 760 civil servants this year. It will be expanded to the private sector, and various communities and levels next year. Shahrizat said that such a program is much needed because of the increased women in the workforce now.

Nearly half of the country’s civil servant workforce were women in 2005, Shahrizat added.
